RED SOX HAVE YANKEES NUMBER!

by RedSoxcast - posted Thursday, June 11th, 2009

After the Red Sox exciting 6-5 win last night over the Yankees at Fenway Park, our Sox are now 7-0 vs the Yankees so far this season!

While things always seem to even out over the course of a full season, it is fun to be able to enjoy this early season dominance over our hated rivals.

Maybe the Sox can go 18-0 vs the Yankees this year? Most likely not, but it is fun to say so to panicking Yankee fans!

SAME OLD MATSUZAKA

by RedSoxcast - posted Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Some people just never get it. Now in his third year with the Red Sox, it is the same old same old with Dice K after his performance against the Twins last night.

102 pitches in only five innings and only 62 of them were strikes. He threw 4 wild pitches, gave up 9 hits and is now 0-3 for the season.

Maybe it is time that the Sox admit that his signing was a mistake. With Penney pitching well and Smoltz and Buchholz on the horizon, why not move Dice K to the bullpen and see if he can do any better coming out of the pen?

BROKEN BAT HOME RUNS???

by RedSoxcast - posted Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

What is the deal with the home run that Mark Texiera hit on Saturday at Yankee stadium?

Isn’t it safe to say that there must be something terribly wrong when a player can break his bat and still hit one out?

I would think that major league baseball is embarrased about that one!

CHECK OUT THIS ALEX RODRIGUEZ STORY!!!

by RedSoxcast - posted Monday, May 4th, 2009

Alex Rodriguez is currently in Florida rehabbing in extended spring training. According to Peter Gammon’s latest blog, the Yankees extended spring training team was scheduled last week to play the Pirates. Prior to the game, Yankee officials asked the Pirates to provide A-Fraud with the following;

1. Serperate dressing room
2. Seperate training room
3. Private field to work out at his own prefered time

A Pirate officiasl was quoted as saying that “these requests were absolutely a first for extended spring training”.

I thought this might be a fun tidbit to get Sox fans blood boiling right before the Sox head to New York to start a series with the Yankees!

GET THE BROOMS OUT AS THE RED SOX SWEEP THE YANKEES!!!

by RedSoxcast - posted Monday, April 27th, 2009

What a weekend series between the Sox & Yankees as the two teams battled as if it were September instead of late April.

Friday night saw the Red Sox win a dramatic come from behind victory as Jason Bay hit a two run bomb off of Mariano Rivera with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game and then Youk hit a walk off in the bottom of the 10th for the win.

On Saturday, the Sox had to come back twice and once from a 6 run defecit after a poor outing by Josh Beckett to beat the Yankees 16-11. V-Tek hit a big grand slam to bring the Sox back within one run when it seemed as if this game would be lost.

On Sunday night, Justin Masterson and the Red Sox bullpen outpitched Andy Pettite and Jacoby Ellsbury’s exciting steal of home helped the Sox to a 4-1 victory.

Tonight the Sox are off to Cleveland and hopefully they will not experience a let down after such an emotional weekend. Gotta love it when we sweep the Yankees!!

DOES RED SOX COME FROM BEHIND VICTORY MEAN BETTER THINGS ARE TO COME???

by RedSoxcast - posted Saturday, April 18th, 2009

The Red Sox came back from an early 7 run defecit at home to beat Baltimore last night.

While Penney was horrible, the bullpen did a great job holding the Orioles to only one other run over the final 6 innings.

The Sox bats came to life with big home runs by Jason Bay and JD Drew. If they can continue to hit, you have to believe that the Red Sox starting pitching even without Dice K will come together.

Thanks again to the bullpen!

TIM WAKEFIELD TO THE RESCUE!

by RedSoxcast - posted Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Tim Wakefield came up huge today for the Red Sox taking a no hitter into the 8th inning against the A’s and helping the Sox to salvage the final game of the series with an 8-2 win.

Is it possible that this win will help the Sox to find their winning ways? Let’s hope so!

RED SOX WOES CONTINUE

by RedSoxcast - posted Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

After eight games who would have thought that our Red Sox would be in dead last place with a 2-6 record? Now to boot we need to deal with the following;

Dice K is horrible, Big Papi is not too far behind that, Becket has ben suspended 6 games for something that he was not even thrown out of a game for, Lowrie and Lugo are both hurt leaving us very thin at short stop and the list goes on and on.

I have to admit that I had to turn last nights game against the A’s off after Dice K gave up a 3 run lead in the bottom of the fist by giving up 5 runs of his own. His teamates must hate when he pitches because as painful as it is to watch him, it must be worse to have to play behind him. He threw almost 50 pitches in the first inning alone!

Lets hope for better days!!!

THANK YOU CURT SHILLING!!!

by RedSoxcast - posted Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Curt Shilling announced his retirement from baseball yesterday.

Ben and I want to thank Curt for all that he did for Red Sox fans. He came to Boston and was a key reason why the Sox won two world series championships in 2004 & 2007 and was truely a big game pitcher.

Many would argue that he taught the Red Sox how to win. All in all, he was 10-2 in the post season with three world series championships in four appearances.

He was also once quoted as saying that nothing was better than making 55,000 New Yorkers shut up!!

We will miss you Curt and hope that you somehow stay involved with the Red Sox organization for years to come. You are a hero to us!

IS KOTTARAS REALLY THE BACKUP CATCHER

by RedSoxcast - posted Saturday, March 21st, 2009

The Red Sox released Josh Bard this week and said that George Kottaras will be the back up cather for the 2009 season.

Kottaras came over to the Sox in a trade when the Sox shipped David Wells to the Padres. While he has been considered a strong prospect for a number of years and is currently out of minor league options and seems to be able to catch Wakefields knuckleball, you have to wonder if this is temporary while the Sox work a trade for another catcher????
