PLEASE STOP THE MIKE LOWELL TRADE RUMORS!
by RedSoxcast - posted Monday, March 29th, 2010
There is a new report today that the Texas Rangers are once again interested in obtaining Mike Lowell from the Red Sox and are willing to offer Max Ramirez to the Sox in return for Lowell.
Can we PLEASE stop all this Mike Lowell trade talk? The Red Sox NEED Mike Lowell to stay with the team. At this point, he could end up being the everyday DH or at the lvery least why not a platoon with Ortiz as well as let him play some both at first and third?
I can’t see why it would make sense to give up his bat at this time especially if we have to finacially subsidize the deal. He offers a lot of flexibility and we need his bat Keep Mike!!!!

JOHN LACKEY TO THE RED SOX. ARE THERE MORE MOVES COMING??
by RedSoxcast - posted Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
The Red Sox have reportedly come to terms with former Angels Ace John Lackey on a five year -$85 Million dollar contract. He was in Boston yesterday for his physical and the deal should be announced officially sometime in the near future.
So does this deal clear the way for the Sox to trade Clay Bucholz for either Adrien Gonzales of Miguel Cabrerra or are the Sox simply looking to have the best starting rotation in baseball in which the top 5 would be Lester, Beckett, Lackey, Dice K and Bucholz?
Another possiblity could be to trade Dice K for the corner bat that they are looking for? Either way this looks to be a great signing by the Sox!!

RED SOX CRUMBLE AT THE FINISH!!!!!
by RedSoxcast - posted Sunday, October 11th, 2009
What a dissapointing end to the 2009 season as the Red Sox blew a 5 to 1 lead at home in Game 3 to be swept by the Angels.
There are certainly lots of fingers to point all the way around but it was certainly dissapointing to see Buckholtz fall aaprt the way he did in the 6th inning, leaving with the bases loaded and no outs after pitching so well for the first Five.
What that did was screw up the Sox bullpen and forced them to use pitchers out of their normal rotation. In addition, they had chances to score more runs off of Kazmir but were un able to put him away.
Congratulations to the Angels as they were the better team this year!

CAN THE RED SOX COME BACK FROM BEING DOWN 2-0?
by RedSoxcast - posted Sunday, October 11th, 2009
Yes the Sox have come from behind before in the playoffs but is this year a different situation?
I still think the Sox have what it takes to take three in a row from the Angels. If Bucholtz pitches a good game today, the Sox bats should come alive and then anything can happen!
I know this years Red Sox have a number of potential holes, however they are still our Sox and I believe!!!
Go Red Sox!

THANK GOODNESS THE RED SOX DO NOT OPERATE LIKE THE BOSTON BRUINS!
by RedSoxcast - posted Friday, October 2nd, 2009
So the Bruins decided that they did not need to keep their 22 year old sniper that can score 40-50 goals per season choosing instead to trade him to Toronto for draft picks instead of paying him.
Well just imagine if the Red Sox instead of signing the long term deals last winter that they did with both Lester and Pedroi had decided that maybe they shouldn’t have signed Pedroia and Lester to long term deals early on in their careers because who needs to keep dominant young talent?
Thank goodness we have the Red Sox to root for. They know how to run an organization and truely care about winning. Maybe the Bruins should hire Theo Epstein away from the Sox?
In the meantime Bruins fans, while the Sox ready for another playoff run, get ready for another winter without a Stanley Cup victory!

DICE K UPDATE
by RedSoxcast - posted Monday, August 31st, 2009
The Red Sox could really use Dice K right now. However anyone that was hoping for him to return to form this year might have to think twice after last nights AA rehab start.
Dice K gace up 5 runs in the first inning! After the game, he reported that his shoulder felt fine and that he has no physical problems.
Yikes!

CAN THE RED SOX STILL CATCH THE YANKEES FOR THE DIVISION?
by RedSoxcast - posted Sunday, August 16th, 2009
As of this evening the Red Sox are 7.5 games behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East. Doesn’t it seem like it was just yesterday that the Sox were 8-0 against the Yankees for the season while enjoying a 3.5 game lead in the division?
Well things have certainly changed in a hurry. The Yankees proceeded to put their pitching, hitting and defense together at exactly the same time that the Red Sox lineup began to fall apart. The question is can anyone stop the Yankees?
My guess is that the Red Sox cannot catch the Yankees and need to focus on winning the wild card. With the lineup that the Yankees have, they can score a lot of runs every night while pitchers like Petite and Sabathia continue to have great seasons.
I hate it when the Yankees play well!

FOR THE RED SOX, IS JD DREW A BIGGER FREE AGENT BUST THAN JULIO LUGO WAS?
by RedSoxcast - posted Monday, July 20th, 2009
Now that Julio Lugo is no longer a member of the Boston Red Sox, does that make JD Drew the teams most current free agent bust?
At 34 years of age, JD Drew is making $14 Million Dollars this year. In return, he is htting only .241 with an on base percentage of .365. Granted he has 12 home runs but these are hardly impressive numbers considering the contract the Red Sox gave him. In his first two season in Boston, Drew ’s batting averages had been .270 and .280 and has not had a season to date with 20 or more home runs since joining the Sox.
If there was ever a time that the Red Sox needed him to get hot, it is right now. With the sox lead dwindling in the Al East and with the rest of the lineup in a funk, it is time for JD to get hot and get this lineup moving agan.
Otherwise, maybe the Sox need to find a right handed hitting right fielder to platoon with their $14 Million Dollar man????

WHY IS MANNY RAMIREZ BACK ALREADY???
by RedSoxcast - posted Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
Am I the only one bothered by the fact that Major League Baseball is allowing Manny Ramirez go to AAA to get ready for his return to the Dodgers BEFORE the July 1st date in which he is allowed to be reinstated?
Reports are that Manny suited up for the Dodgers top farm club the Albuquerque Isotopes last night and was cheered repeatedly by the fans.
What a joke!

ANOTHER BAD MATSUZAKA OUTING
by RedSoxcast - posted Sunday, June 14th, 2009
Well another vintage Dice K outing on Saturday night against the Phillies. 4 innings pitched, 92 pitches, 4 runs allowed on 7 hits. He had an early lead and still could not go 5 innings to be in line for a victory.
I say we either send him to the minors to figure things out or put him in the bullpen and give Smoltz his spot in the rotation!
