VERITEK BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON WITH THE RED SOX
Jason Veritek finally agreed to contract terms late last week and will be ready to report to training camp on time.
Unfortunately he has not spoken out publically yet with regard to re joining his teamates for another season. I hope that his silence represents his displeasure in himself for choosing Scott Boras as his agent instead of being angy over the deal he agreed to.
When you look at his prior numbers for the last year and a half and consider the state of the economy, I think the Red Sox gave him a very fair deal. So Jason, please be happy!

Geoff,
We think re signing Veritek was a decent move because the Sox will be relying heavily on its pitching this season and he is still one of the best game calling catchers in baseball as noted by the fact that he has caught 4 no hitters and has won two world series championships.
There is no doubt that both his hitting and throwing are not what they once were but at only $5 million, the Sox can afford to play him until they come up with a better option. The questions is, who out there is a better option that could be avaiulable?
